| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LEE COUNTY, FL, October 21, 2004 – At 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, Habitat for Humanity of Lee County will dedicate its first home since Hurricane Charley. The home, located at 1025 Lovely Lane in North Fort Myers, has been built for Donna Hadley, a single mother of two. The home was sponsored by TKW Consulting Engineers, Inc., a multidisciplinary engineering firm headquartered in Fort Myers and founded by Trudi K. Williams, P.E. and CEO. For the past ten years, TKW has provided Habitat for Humanity with pro bono structural engineering design services. Habitat for Humanity felt that this sponsorship would be an appropriate way to recognize TKW’s generosity to the organization. “TKW is pleased to take part in Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing affordable housing for Lee County families. We would encourage other firms to become involved in such a great program,” noted Williams. Habitat for Humanity dedicates each new home as a way of bringing together all of the parties that made the build possible. It gives the new homeowners the opportunity to meet with the house sponsors and to celebrate with friends and family. A member of the clergy blesses each home before the family takes ownership. Habitat for Humanity of Lee County is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Lee County. Through the use of volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent housing for families who otherwise could not afford it. To date, Habitat for Humanity of Lee County has built more than 500 homes, but thousands of families still live in substandard or overcrowded housing in our service area. |
